| Summary of the VCDS Project |
VCDS: VCore-based Design System (Virtual Core-based Design System)
The VCDS project was established in April 2000. Since then, the project
has been involved with activities aimed at establishing an advanced design
technology for vastly improving the design productivity for the highly
integrated, large-scale system on chip (SoC).
The organization, at the time the development first started, consisted of thirty-two core researchers, including employees on loan from twelve (currently eleven) semiconductor manufacturers, who are development clients, as well as employees on loan from other sources, such as from EDA vendors and software houses. These people were leaders in the research and development of the Virtual Core based Design System (VCDS). The content of the development consisted of research and development for the basic technology of the VCDS, for a project known as, gResearch and development of the advanced design technology for the System on Chip (SoC)h, commissioned by NEDO for a term of three years, which started in April 2000. Research and development for establishing a design methodology for large-scale SoCs of the future and an EDA component technology were completed.
We would like to make these basic technologies, which we developed, available in the various fields of electronics and we hope that they will be utilized widely for the benefit to those establishing an industrial technology base.
Term of project: April 2000 to March 2003. |
