Research and Development Contents and Goal
We are doing research and development of an advanced design technology
to increase SoC design productivity. An SoC (System on a Chip) is a very
large integrated circuit.
Our mission is to create a reuse based design methodology by introducing
the VCore concept, and to develop its design system (VCDS: Virtual Core
based Design System).
Our goals are:
What is an SoC?
An SoC is an LSI which integrates various functions of a system into one chip.
EX. Wearable Computer
Social needs and roles of SoC in the future
The SoC will be the key technology for the infrastructure of the future social system

What is a VCore?
A VCore is a reusable functional block described at a high-level of abstraction,
such as system and architectural levels, and whose internal functions and
interface specification are parameterized.
There are three types of VCores defined: function VCore (Function VCore),
hardware VCore (Hardware VCore), and software VCore (Software VCore).
Influence on the SoC design
When the VCDS is implemented, we expect drastic improvements in SoC's design
productivity and design time.
As a result the VCDS can contribute to the function and performance improvement
of information and communications devices carrying an SoC.
